Accessible Hydroponic Farming Training

The Inclusive Climate Action for Fiji (ICAF) project, funded by the EU, aims to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and promote inclusive resilience and sustainable development in Fiji. The Fiji Disabled People’s Federation (FDPF) invites expressions of interest from individuals interested in accessible hydroponic farming training.

This training will be conducted at FVTTC hall at 3 Browne Street, Suva on the 10th and 11th of September 2024. The curriculum includes an introduction to hydroponics, discussions on the advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional soil farming (geoponics), horizontal and vertical setup options, commonly used techniques, basic equipment overview, and practical demonstrations of various techniques such as Nutrient flow, deep flow, Dutch bucket system, and ebb and flow systems. Additionally, topics will cover plant growth requirements, water management, selection of growing media, considerations for greenhouse versus open farm setups, plant health maintenance, seeding techniques, transplanting methods, and effective marketing strategies.

After completing the training, participants will have the opportunity to develop and submit their own business proposals for funding and a Certificate of Participation. These proposals will undergo a selection process, with the aim of establishing accessible hydroponic model farms. The funding to set up accessible hydroponic farm to selected participants will be provided as part of ‘financial support to third party’ under the ICAF Project.

Limited space for training is available. Applicants must commit to attending all training sessions. Training fees will be covered by FDPF.

The training workshop will also be covered via an online platform module.

To register please send written expression of interest highlighting how this training will be beneficial to you via email to Alvis Chand on alvischand@fdpf.org and/or (Ph: 9428225). Registration closes on 2nd of September 2024.
