Philosophy

FDPF adopts the United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Disability is defined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as “those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.”

It is our belief that, all human beings, regardless of their differences have equal and inalienable rights to health, education, employment, housing, transport, accessibility and all other opportunities available to the general population. In order to safeguard these rights, FDPF promotes the principle that persons with disabilities must have a strong voice, representation and a major role in the decision-making processes at all levels on issues impacting their lives. FDPF upholds the concept of full inclusion for all persons with disabilities within the services and programs of the general infrastructure of society.
