FAD is a self-help group run by the Deaf for the Deaf. Formed in 2002, FAD is the only Deaf association in Fiji and works to advocate for, empower and educate people who are Deaf. FAD is an affiliate of the Fiji Disable Peoples Federation, a national self-help group established in 1984. It is also a member of the World Federation of the Deaf and Pacific Disability Forum. FAD is an advocate for providing Deaf people with equal opportunities in all aspects of society. FAD is committed to providing:
- Sign language classes
- Sign language training for staff working with Deaf people
- Employment services for Deaf people
- Awareness activities for the general community
- Community services such as sporting teams and events for Deaf people
- Fiji sign language dictionary
- Training of Deaf members in human rights, advocacy and Fiji sign language research.

Fiji Association of the Deaf is the Deaf – led organization representing people who are Deaf and hard of hearing in Fiji. We promote the advancement of human rights and equality for Deaf people by collaborating with our members and stakeholders to influence governments in ratification/implementing the United Nations Conventions and the National Disability Policy
