FIJI marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities today.
Celebrations have been organised around the country, including a panel discussion at the University of the South Pacific with the Pacific Disability Forum (PDF), Australian Government and the Fiji Disabled Peoples Federation (FDPF).
FDPF president Rakesh Chand says the celebration will remind everyone to include persons with disabilities in programs and activities and, the need to recognise everyone’s abilities and their contributions to society.
Mr Chand encouraged all partners and stakeholders to ensure inclusion and access for persons with disabilities in all aspects of development programs such as education, employment opportunities and entrepreneurship initiative.
