The FDPF Youth would like to thank Reproductive Health and Family Planning Association Fiji for giving the team an opportunity to offer the Access Audit service to the new clinic. Whereby, reasonable accommodation and appropriate adjustments are put in place for persons’ with disabilities, as well as members of the public (pregnant woman and people that are weak to mobilize independently due to heavy symptoms of undiagnosed illness) to easily access the clinical services provided within the new location.

Physical Environment and Clinic Services Observed
Streetscape: Easy access from outside the building that allows easy access.
- Curb more than 900mm wide back entrance. For wheelchair users.
- No tactile on surface level
Entrance:
- Front Entrance – Narrow and has steps
- No ramps on front entrance as well
Steps:
- Front entrance, 5 steps.
- No markings on edges
Doors:
- Door entrance 900mm wide.
- Door opening – Grill door opens outward, main door opens inwards.
- Sliding door – inside clinic pass waiting area, 1 step situated at door way.
Reception and waiting room:
- Counter is eye level to all
- Relatively small – can accommodate 1 wheelchair user and approximately 5 other clients.
Car park:
- Located back entrance
- 7 parking spaces for clients’ vehicles. Easy access for wheelchair users.
- Possible offloading zone for taxi.
Recommendations
Main Entrances:
- Clear Signage – eg. Sign boards on both entrances, indicating location of clinic.
- Front Entrance – Tactile on level surface, and change surface markings to indicate edges and turns for visually impaired. Also clear signage of directions to clinic services. Railings along the edges of walk way.

3. Back Entrance – Clear access to disability parking space or offloading zone and signage of direction to the clinic reception.

4. Back entrance walkway from proposed Disabled Car park spot to inside clinic to be flat level (cemented or paved) and extended for wheelchair users.


Entrance of the Clinic:
- Replace steps with ramp and railing on each side.
- Door width extended. Sliding door is appropriate considering the space within waiting room.
- Sliding door inside clinic with 1 step, to have temporary ramp (can be used only when needed).

Toilets:
- Clear Signage of toilet location
- Temporary ramp for entering toilet – 1 step

Drains beside pavements:
- Cover top of drains with flat boards adjacent to surface level.

General Recommendations:
- Kindly remove all obstacles like boxes etc that can cause harm and hinder movement when mobilizing within the clinic and out.
- Lighting within waiting and consultation rooms to be adjustable (dim/bright adjuster).
- Clear signage of directions within and outside clinic (especially tactile/markings on surfaces that indicate where clinic operations or reception is situated and to keep clear from prohibited areas.
- Temporary ramps to be placed within clinic and toilet, also be of a gradual rise when moving from bottom to top.
- Railings be placed at all entrances. Especially beside edges of walkways.
